Born in a small town of southern Illinois, Lucas went to college at the University of Illinois and received his B.S. in Molecular Biology before making the jump to the film industry.

Since moving to Los Angeles, he has received numerous awards and accolades including a Clio for his commercial work for the Olympics, a Webby, and his narrative work on Lost Dogs which was named Best Short by Universal/NBC.
